His regiment were pitted in the thankless defence of the Scarlet Well facilities and decimated. Without proper support the Mechanicus did all they could to keep the men of the guard in action, desperate surgeries and enhancements were inflicted upon the men of the Gehnan VIIth. Many heavily augmented and some little more than Ghola they became known as the ‘Resurrected’ or ‘Ironbacks’ amongst the relief force that arrived.
The war long over, they were disbanded across the sector, many falling to villainy, the hunt of bounty, and some like him, once again to service of the throne.
Rebuilt countless times, his lungs, his legs, even his guts. Compared to some of the regiment Dieter Stross has gotten off lightly, he had survived. That was all he really was any more; a survivor. And frankly, a killer without peer.
