Faust, seen pictured here wearing the Mask of the Beckoning Void, had drawn derision from the Augustine conclaves throughout his career. His belief that in order to fight the Arch Enemy, you have to understand them – very much a follower of the ancient Terran idiom ‘To fight fire with fire’.
No one can be said to embody this more, whilst he hasn’t been seen without his mask in decades, he had used extensive cosmetic surgeries to give him the visage of a monster. His skin stained and marked with sigils of warding, teeth shaped to fine points and his eyes; yellow in hue and split with feline pupils.
However, post rifting, the Augustine conclaves were in turmoil. The Ecclesiarchy’s influence led more puritanical elements to come to the fore, but without aid from Holy Terra they were without support for the increased incidences of anathema and manifestation. Faust emerges as a dominant figure at the head of the Order of the Withered Hope, a once ignored Death Cult in the region.
He had, along with assistance from other Radical Inquisitors in the sector, opened their resources to the cult. Repurposed and rearmed with experimental technology, esoteric apparatus and weapons of the Arch Enemy, the Order have become a local counter to these manifestations.
